Office of the Accountant General (Commercial Audit), Maharashtra was formed on 1 April, 1986 consequent on re-structuring the Office of the Director of Audit (Scientific & Commercial Departments), Mumbai, which was in existence since March 1975.

The main office is situated on the Ground Floor of Pratishtha Bhavan at  101, M.K. Road,
Mumbai – 400 020 and Local Audit Parties functioning from the premises provided by State Government/Corporation/Board/Department.
